Dear Parent / Guardian,

As a valued playing member with Naomh Gall juvenile section, your child has to be registered for the incoming 2011 season, both with the club and the Antrim County Board. Registration of all players is a requirement determined by the GAA at national level so we have an organisational duty to comply.

I enclose for your attention the club’s standard registration document. We require your written consent across the identified areas which may arise while your child is in the care of the club. The document seeks to reassure you that the club takes its responsibilities seriously in these areas. I would ask that you bring the signed document to one of the registration events. A completed form is essential for us to meet our obligations, within both GAA and legislative structures. We will provide you at registration  with a copy of our new Juvenile Members Family Handbook which describes what we offer to your child, our commitment to high standards of welfare and propriety, information on our shop, website etc. We will also be happy to deal with any queries you may want to raise with us.

Unfortunately, running our juvenile section becomes a bigger drain on our limited revenues annually, (cost of equipment, entering teams in competitions, coaching programmes etc). I hope you will understand that, consequently, we have had to review our fees structure for juveniles and the 2011 rates are

1 child -           £35.00
Family -           £150.00

We will be collecting the annual fee at registration events so prompt payment would be greatly appreciated. Alternatively, if you wish to pay by direct debit, we are more than happy to facilitate this and mandate forms will be available at registration.  We appreciate your previous and continuing support for your child’s participation in Gaelic games at Naomh Gall and look forward to seeing you at the registration event of your choice.

Yours faithfully

Charlotte McArdle
Chairperson of the Juvenile Committee

Cross Eyed & Spied

Like everyone else CES would be on the web site daily, looking for upcoming events, a bit of debate or maybe a bit of team news for a big match - some chance. Anyway at the weekend up pops ‘Ceist GAA le Hector’ and on further reading a potential holiday in the Algarve for ‘south Antrim’ players. Or so the article went. Well being a south Antrin player, nothing to do with being on the piss in the ’States’ for two months, due only to work and study commitments you understand, CES thought, “this will do me.” So at ten past eight on Sunday night CES was sitting in the girlfriend’s house with popcorn and sun factor ten waiting on ‘Hector’ and the best St Galls had to offer. And on it came. Now, it did take a little time to explain to CES’s potential mother-in-law why he was sitting on a couch in her house in a pair of ‘Speedos’ -they’re the in-thing now- but the ‘Algarve aspect swung it and we all settled down in anticipation of another great victory for the boys, and one girl, from Milltown Row. Alas however it wasn’t to be and the ‘Speedos’ have been put away until the next quiz, or more likely next summer. The team tried their best and fair play to them, although CES heard they got big cheques from TG4 in Galway that bought more than a few new tracksuits. But CES also learned a little and was able to give his beloved some advice. Ok, the female member of the team was a pretty wee thing for her age but what impressed CES, and probably a lot of other men, was that she didn’t say much. Now there’s a girl worth going out with! Anyway fair play for trying to get all us south Antrim playing ‘Speedo’ lovers a much needed holiday.
